What is your role at Grampians Health?

Director of Nursing – Edenhope Campus
Interim Lead Executive Officer – Edenhope Campus

Why is IDAHOBIT important to you?

IDAHOBIT for me is a step forward in ensuring that equality and diversity are embraced. It is that one day where we get to celebrate diversity and eventually put an end to discrimination.

I think respect and kindness are essential in achieving equality.

What is one thing you would like others to know about the LGBTQIA+ community?

The LGBTQIA+ community is the same with each and every one. Being human is the common link that ties us all together. We aspire to have the same rights as each and every individual.

It has been a long journey for the LGBTQIA+ community to get to where we are right now. There is still a lot of work that needs to be done to get to a place where discrimination does not prosper.

In what ways do you see Grampians Health supporting the LGBTQIA+ community?

I’ve been lucky enough to work in a workplace where the culture of kindness is practised. Being a part of Grampians Health, I think we can start by acknowledging issues as they occur and working towards resolving them. Providing support to the LGBTQIA+ community through information campaigns and trainings would also help. Embracing the uniqueness of each and every one and working towards creating an environment that does not only tolerates but embraces diversity.
