Grampians Health launches new infrastructure plan to deliver purpose-built facilities and enhance patient care

14 December 2023
Grampians Health today unveiled a road map to help deliver purpose-built and inclusive facilities that will enhance access to services and deliver care closer to home.
As part of unveiling Grampians Health Infrastructure Plan 2023-2043, CEO Dale Fraser and Chief Redevelopment & Infrastructure Officer Veronica Furnier-Tosco, invited staff to contribute to a digital time capsule to help mark the release of Grampians Health’s infrastructure plan. Staff from all campuses are encouraged to write a short note or compile/select an image on how they envisage facilities in 2043 for inclusion in the time capsule which will be shared in 2043.
The Grampians Health Infrastructure Plan 2023-2043, which is one of 10 key dynamic enablers, will help construct new facilities tailored to the specific needs of local communities. It incorporates future care models and prioritising safety, inclusivity and cohesive integration of digital systems.
The plan delivers outcomes aligned to three priority goals including:
- To develop future focused infrastructure to support our health care services;
- To enhance technology, research, and innovation to meet our workforce and community need; and
- To demonstrate the responsible use of financial and environmental resources.
Ms Furnier-Tosco said this was an exciting milestone for Grampians Health with the infrastructure plan promising to redefine the health care service’s landscape and enhance the delivery of patient care through greater access to care.
“Infrastructure is not just about building, it’s about building a better future. Our infrastructure plan represents our steadfast commitment to creating opportunities, fostering innovation and driving sustainable development,” Ms Furnier-Tosco said.
“The infrastructure plan will undergo periodic updates every five years for the next two decades. These updates will consider shifts in the environment stemming from policy and planning endeavours, economic fluctuations, demographic trends, and technological advancements. Each review conducted will also integrate modifications to service models and local requirements.
“Innovation and technology are also top priorities in our infrastructure plan. We have set our sights on harnessing the power of the latest advancements to help improve patient outcomes including improved diagnosis and treatment, enhance operational efficiency, and enable seamless communication across departments.
Ms Furnier-Tosco said Grampians Health’s commitment to sustainability was also deeply ingrained in the infrastructure plan.
“We understand the importance of responsible resource management and minimising our environmental impact. Through energy-efficient systems, green building practices, and waste reduction strategies, we aim to create environmentally conscious facilities that not only benefit our communities but also serve as a model for others in the healthcare industry.
“By pursuing these goals, we will meet the healthcare requirements of our community and also provide our staff with the best possible facilities to carry out their work effectively and safely. At Grampians Health, we believe no matter where you live, you deserve equality in access to healthcare.”
