Grampians Health’s partnership to improve mental health and wellbeing together

25 August 2023

Grampians Health is pleased to be one of the service providers that are partnering with a network of metropolitan and regional health services and research institutions in the new State Government’s Victorian Collaborative Centre for Mental Health and Wellbeing.

The centre, the first of its kind in Australia, will bring together people with lived experience, researchers, and health professionals to lead critical improvements in the mental health system.

“This partnership is important to Grampians Health and we are honoured to be named one of the supporting networks,” said Craig Wilding, Grampians Health Chief Operating Officer Community, and Aged Care.

“Our commitment to working together to improve mental health and wellbeing for our local communities and all Victorians is central to our service design and delivery.”

The Collaborative Centre will be led by the Royal Melbourne Hospital and the University of Melbourne and supported by 20 health and academic institutions, as well as community services focused on Aboriginal health and wellbeing.

“Grampians Health has placed great emphasis on the importance of collaborative partnerships with the community, carers, families, universities, health care professionals, researchers, and our workforce,” said Mark Thornett, Grampians Health Director, Mental Health and Wellbeing Service.

“We understand that listening, learning, and sharing is key to driving change and improving the future of mental health and wellbeing for all.”

Damien Geyle, Grampians Health, Director Co-Design and Co-Production, said it is essential that the lived and living experience workforce is enabled in any kind of change.

“We involve them at each stage of the process. Our lived and living experience team work across a wide range of areas and they are fully involved and integral to the co-design and co-production of the critical work being carried out in the redesign of mental health and wellbeing services,” said Mr Geyle.
