Enrolled Nurse traineeship profile –
Violet Feduniw

Grampians Health Ballarat’s latest cohort of Enrolled Nurse (EN) Trainees have commenced their roles, while applications remain open for EN Trainees across Grampians Health’s Edenhope, Horsham and Stawell sites.

Violet Feduniw was looking to study after a couple of years working in retail management in Geelong when she heard about and applied for the EN Traineeship.

“My partner graduated in Medicine last year so we moved to Ballarat and I started the EN Traineeship in January 2022,” Violet said. “It’s a good transition between working and studying, and it’s great to have hands-on experience.

“It has been a nice way to meet new people, since I’ve just moved to Ballarat. There are a lot of school leavers and also mature aged students, and I’m kind of in the middle. It’s encouraging to think that later in life you can decide ‘oh I’m interested in that’ and get paid to work and learn.”

Violet has always been interested in studying nursing and is already considering furthering her career by becoming a registered nurse, midwife or paramedic after completing her EN Traineeship in early 2024.

The first round of placements for the Ballarat cohort are commencing at the beginning of March, and Violet will be starting at Bill Crawford Lodge.

“There will be a lot to learn! I’m really enjoying it so far.”

EN Trainees are enthusiastic, passionate and motivated individuals who can earn while they learn. Successful applicants will be enrolled in a Diploma of Nursing through Federation TAFE and on completion of the program will be qualified Enrolled Nurses.

Applications for EN Traineeship in Edenhope, Horsham and Stawell close on 23 February 2022, and the program will commence prior to 31 March 2022.
