3 April 2025
Grampians Health has opened a new gynaecology clinic in Stawell to offer specialised care for women in the region.
The clinic, part of the Women’s Health clinic project, aims to significantly improve access to essential services for patients in Stawell and further enhances local care options at the hospital.
“Our overarching goal is to ensure we make care accessible to the communities we serve and the gynaecology clinic in Stawell represents our ongoing commitment to providing accessible and specialised healthcare to our community,” said Ben Kelly, Chief Operating Officer, Grampians Health.
“We are excited to expand our services with the new clinic in Stawell and look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on our patients’ lives.”
The clinic will operate three times per month, providing much-needed care and support to manage limited gynaecological conditions. It will be staffed by a gynaecology registrar.
A gynaecology clinic provides specialised care for a range of conditions including but not limited to menstrual disorders, pelvic pain and endometriosis. The clinic also offers health education to support women’s overall reproductive health.
“The clinic complements our other services in Stawell and will help address a range of gynaecological issues, while improving the overall health and well-being of women and all gender diverse people in the local community,” said Dr. Natasha Frawley, Clinical Director of Women’s and Children’s, Grampians Health.
“More importantly, women in Stawell and the surrounds will have access to quality specialist care, closer to home.”
GP referrals are required to access the clinic, and all referrals can be sent via fax to (03) 5358 8543.
The gynaecology clinic follows the recent opening of pelvic health physiotherapy clinics across Stawell and Horsham that provide care for conditions such as pelvic floor disorders, pelvic pain and post-partum care.
Grampians Health is among one of the first sites in Victoria to have launched women’s health clinics that aimed to address conditions including pelvic pain, heavy bleeding, prolapse and incontinence, contraception and menopause services.
A clinic to address heavy menstrual bleeding was recently launched in Ballarat and aims to improve access to specialised care for women experiencing abnormal periods.
