Double the opportunity for Rebecca

Stawell-based Grampians Health nurse Rebecca Bolzon is enjoying the flexibility and variety that the newly merged organisation has provided.
Previously a nurse unit manager in Stawell’s Urgent Care, Rebecca has moved into a training role. She is the clinical nurse educator at the Stawell campus but also works as a casual registered nurse in the Intensive Care Unit at the Ballarat campus.
Prior to moving to Stawell, Rebecca had worked for 16 years as an ICU nurse at a Melbourne hospital.
“I love working as a clinical nurse educator but I really wanted to continue my ICU nursing,” she said.
The formation of Grampians Health, which was established following the amalgamation of Edenhope and District Memorial Hospital, Wimmera Health Care Group, Stawell Regional Health and Ballarat Health Services, has been beneficial for staff members like Rebecca.
As part of one big health service, Rebecca said that she is able to perform two roles with full support of her team leaders.
“I’ve done several shifts in Ballarat’s ICU and I’ve absolutely loved doing that. It’s just a great opportunity.
“The team at Stawell are amazing to work with. They have a ‘can-do’ attitude that I admire,” she said.
Rebecca said working at regional hospitals was very different to the larger Melbourne hospitals.
“Working at Grampians Health allows so much scope to grow as a nurse. I think there is a lot of opportunity to do more and the team is amazing.”
